A long awaited question answered, So who is Kamala Harris?

For months we have wondered who Joe Biden’s running mate would be, now we know. He has picked Kamala Harris the Senator from California. So how did she become the running mate of Joe Biden?

Harris was born in Oakland, the daughter of immigrants. She graduated from the University of California and Howard University with a degree in political science and economics. Starting out as deputy district attorney in Almeda County, she moved her way up the ladder to become San Francisco deputy district attorney. There she became chief of the Career Criminal Division, supervising five other attorneys. From 2004 to 2011 she was elected District Attorney of San Francisco.

In November of 2008 she announced she was running for California Attorney General. She had the backing of familiar names such as Dianne Feinstein and Nancy Pelosi. In 2010 she won with 33. 6 percent of the vote. In 2014 she was re- elected with 57.5 percent of the vote.

In 2015 she announced she was running for U.S. Senate. She won receiving more than 80 percent of the vote. Over her tenure she has grilled many Trump appointees. Then on January 21, 2019 she announced she was running for President. She made a splash by going after Joe Biden for policies that hurt African Americans.; policies that he created and voted for in his tenure as a Senator. After she dropped out in December we have not heard as much about her in the news, until recently. As the anticipation grew on who Biden would pick as his VP. He committed to picking a woman, but who? Then came the death of George Floyd, pushing him to pick a black woman.

Then on August 11, he selected Kamala Harris as his running mate.
